There are many things that make the United States such a great place to be a part of. Although, there are struggles in which immigrants face often within the pursuit of equality. With debates often arising as how to pursue fair immigration laws and reforms, the concept of why people come to this country often vary. One thing that most immigrants may agree on is a quote by Nazi Concentration Camp survivor and later US citizen, Theodore Burger, who said; “The American Dream is to live in dignity.”[1] Even though the trends of immigration can change such as evolution of immigrant nationalities emigrating to the US, the fight against discriminatory laws that disenfranchise, and the creation of cultural pluralism all tie together with the idea of dignity and the pursuit of happiness.
